How to Wear Suit Accessories Correctly
Matching a tie and pocket square. Never match them exactly. Pick up a secondary colour from the tie’s pattern instead, an exact match reads as a pre-packaged set rather than a considered choice.
Folding a pocket square. The presidential fold, a simple flat rectangle, works with any suit and takes ten seconds. Puffed folds suit silk, structured folds suit linen and cotton.
Wearing cufflinks. Cufflinks require a French cuff shirt, which is a decision made when the shirt is ordered, not afterwards. If you want to wear cufflinks, ask for French cuffs at your fitting.
Choosing a tie knot. Match the knot to your collar. A wide spread collar suits a larger knot, a narrow point collar suits a smaller one.
